“对华援助协会”与“自由之家”将于3月5日（2013）在美国首都华盛顿的国会山联合举办“中国人权挑战”的论坛。陈光诚和高智晟的妻子耿和，著名的人权议员克里斯·史密斯、欧盟议会副主席爱德华·麦克米兰－司考特，届时将出席此次论坛。

举办时间：2013年3月5日上午10：30 — 中午12点
3月5日是中国第十二界全国人大召开之日，共产党的领袖习近平届时将获得国家主席和军委的全部权力。在这次大会召开之前，中国的一些有影响力的异议人士和学者们签署了一封公开信，敦促政府施行政改，包括批准承认《公民权利和政治权利国际公约》。一方面，中国公民对不公正现象的批评和强调公民权利的声音与日俱增，但是另一方面，共产党却继续付诸于广泛的镇压手段来维持其政权。如今，中国人权所面临的主要挑战是什么？中国新领导将会带来怎样的变化？欧洲和美国怎样才能鼓励中国重视人权？

March 5th marks the beginning of the 12th National People's Congress, where Communist Party leader Xi Jinping is expected to assume full power as President and head of the Central Military Commission. Ahead of the congress, influential activists and scholars have signed open letters urging the government to implement political reforms, including ratification of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. While citizens in China are increasingly vocal in criticizing injustice and asserting their rights, the Communist Party continues to resort to extenstive repression to maintain its hold on power. What are the main challenges for human rights in China today? What are the prospects for change under China's new leaders? And how can Europe and the United States encourage greater respect for human rights in China?
